Went on a 12 day Raja Ampat liveaboard trip aboard the MV Ambai. Traveling to all the areas of Raja Ampat from Misool down south, all the way to Wayag in the North, and everything else in between.
We started off going down to Misool and spent 4 days there. This area is arguably the best of Raja Ampat and the area that I would easily choose to go back to if I only had one option. It is known for the very colorful soft corals that are everywhere on some dives, most notably at the Gorgonian Passage dive site.
Then we made our way up to Penem/Piaynemo which is known for their hard corals. The most notable dive was Melissa's Garden. The hard coral garden here was insane, staghorn corals everywhere beyond the eye can see. With millions of little greenish fish swimming in and around the coral and in sync, what a phenomenal dive that was.
From there on we went up to Kawe which had nothing really notable there. Then Wayag for the baby blacktip shark beach and the iconic Raja Ampat viewpoint (which we missed because of the rain). Moved back towards central Raja to Gam to check out the mangroves, wobbegong sharks, and large cuttlefish. Then to our last area around Kri which was our first area that we encountered very bleached corals.
