Scripps Canyon 4-6-25
Dove Scripps Canyon for my first time aboard the Humboldt. It's basically La Jolla Canyon but the slope and walls are much more dramatic, which arguably makes it better! It also seems to host a slightly different set of critters compared to La Jolla. There was an abundance of acanthodoris and cadlina nudibranch species, as well as patches of strawberry anemones, all things I don't normally see (or never) at the Shores.

Blackeye Goby, Rhinogobiops nicholsii

Yellow Zoanthid, Savalia lucifica

Strawberry Anemone, Corynactis californica

Yellowfin Fringehead, Neoclinus stephensae

Nudibranch, Spalding's Dorid, Doriopsilla spaldingi

Nudibranch, Spalding's Dorid, Doriopsilla spaldingi

Noble Dorid, Peltodoris nobilis, Nudibranch

Clown Dorid, Tiopha Catalinae, Nudibranch

Nudibranch, Opalescent Nudibranch, Hermissenda opalescens

Nudibranch, Stearns' Aeolid, Austraeolis stearnsi

Nudibranch, Orange-peel Doris, Acanthodoris lutea

Hudson's Horned Dorid, Acanthodoris hudsoni, Nudibranch

Wasn't even sure what this was until I looked at the photo back home. To my surprise, a nudi haven't seen before!
Nudibranch, Yellowhead Aeolid, Diaphoreolis flavovulta
